Indian Hills Fire Rescue (IHFR) is the volunteer fire department that serves the Indian Hills Fire Protection District (IHFPD). IHFR provides emergency medical services, structural fire response, wildfire response, and outreach and training to residents in IHFPD.

IHFR is a small but highly effective volunteer department with about 20 active volunteers and a full-time, paid Fire Chief who is responsible for directing all activities of the fire department and volunteer firefighters. IHFR members help provide a safe, secure environment for the community by minimizing the impact of fires, natural and/or human-caused disasters, hazardous conditions, and personal emergencies. The department is dedicated to the protection of life, property, and the environment through a commitment to excellence in emergency response, training, public education, fire prevention, and the efficient utilization of resources.

IHFR responds to about 150-175 calls each year, including both medical incidents and wildland fires. Despite their small size, IHFR has some of the fastest response times out of surrounding fire protection districts in the area.  Some volunteers go on extended dispatches to wildland fires outside of the IHFPD. In addition to providing funding for IHFPD, these assignments are a valuable source of training and experience for IHFR personnel. Three of the IHFR volunteers have engine boss qualifications. IHFR has a 3,000 gallon water tender and  three engines, a type 6 and a type 3 wildland fire engines, and a structural fire engine.  IHFR also has two ambulances and one ATV all of which are housed at their station at 4476 Parmalee Gulch Road.
